The Faithful God El Shaddai, our God Almighty— Ever have you been of old, Friend, Sustainer, Guide and Father Gently caring for our souls. It was you who led your children Through the wilderness and heat. Tired and hungry, thirsty, yearning For some comfort and relief. To a land of milk and honey, Which would be their wondrous home. From the rule of Egypt’s strong hold, And relief from slavery’s load. A cloud by day and fire in the darkness, Still you led in sun and rain. Not forsaking for a moment, Those you chose to bear your name. From the heavens you sent manna, And the quails in hundreds fell. You provided for their hunger, And not once provision failed. Can we trust you, oh our Father, As we travel on our way? In our hearts we know the answer, You are just the same today! Those of us who have walked later, Many years removed from thence, Claim you as our faithful Father, Guiding us through each event. Maxine Tolbert Trigleth |
